Sal Aposi apologizes for tripping Miami's Nolan Caroll during the third quarter of Sunday's game.

Jets strength and conditioning coach Sal Alosi was remorseful after he intentionally tried to trip Dolphins cornerback Nolan Carroll as he ran down the sidelines during a punt yesterday. As of 3:30 p.m., Alosi still hadn't been reprimanded by the team or the NFL. He also said that he didn't offer to resign.
"My actions were inexcusable and irresponsible," Alosi said today. "I'm extremely thankful that my actions yesterday didn't result in any significant injury."
Alosi admitted that he "wasn't thinking" when he leaned his left knee into Carroll late in the third quarter.
"I wasn’t thinking," he said. "If I could go back again, I would sure as heck take a step back… That's the problem. Nothing went through my head. I wasn’t thinking. Had I been thinking, I'd take a step back instead of leaning forward. … I felt terrible. My heart went into my chest and up into my throat."
Alosi said he wasn't instructed by Jets coaches to crowd the sideline since the Dolphins had been running along the edge of the Jets sideline on punts earlier in the game. (They were also flagged for it).

Alosi said that he's spoken with Rex RyanWoody Johnson and Mike Tannenbaum since the incident. He also called Miami coach Tony Sparano. He spoke to Carroll last night.
"Whatever the disciplinary actions are, I'm willing to accept them and move forward from there," Alosi said. "I’ll take whatever disciplinary actions the league or the team (hands out). It's on me."
