Michael Jordan is still an icon in Chicago and the Bobcats owner thinks that current Bulls forward Derrick Rose is the NBA’s MVP this seas...
"MVP of the season," His Airness said Wednesday night after the Bulls beat his Bobcats 101-84. "He deserves it. He's playing that well, without a doubt."
"And if he doesn't get it, now he will see how I felt a lot of those years," Jordan said with a sly smile.
Jordan's words shocked Rose, albeit in a good way.
"It's great that he said that,” Rose said. “It's an honor. I'm speechless.”
Rose is thrilled to receive the admiration of His Airness, but said his leadership style is different from Jordan’s.
"We're two different people," Rose said. "He's more talkative than I am. You can tell being around him he was always vocal with his teammates. Just hearing about some of the stuff he was saying and some of the stuff he did like shooting free throws with his eyes closed, I would never do that."
With Jordan and the rest of the Bulls first championship team in town Saturday night for the 20th anniversary celebration of the team’s first NBA championship, Rose is looking forward to having the opportunity to talk with Jordan and get some advice.
"You always know when he's in the building," Rose said. "His presence is probably the craziest of all the NBA players who have played this game."
Jordan said that he is excited to return to Chicago, that it will be fun to see his old teammates and if they are fat like him.
"I guarantee Stacey King will be the biggest," Jordan said.
