With the long holiday weekend fast approaching, the Shore season (no, the other one) officially begins. At Moreys' Surfside Pier in Wild...
Known only as "It," the $1.5 million, pendulum-style ride is the culmination of more than two years of designing, manufacturing, and installation work, as detailed in Jacqueline L. Urgo's story in the Inquirer.
The ride is a green-and-yellow dynamo with moving parts that hurl passengers six stories into the air. It also has a lap-bar system designed to provide greater freedom of movement to riders in three eight-passenger gondolas as they are spun and hurled in a 120-degree swinging motion 65 feet in the air. No shoulder restraints for this wild ride.
The result is "amazing," Executive VP Jack Morey is quoted as saying. "There's minimum confinement . . . and maximum fear in this one."
Morey's plans to stage a "soft" opening of It the weekend before the Memorial Day holiday weekend, following safety checks and a final inspection by state officials.
