(Reuters) - A U.S. Airways flight landed safely at Ronald Reagan National Airport on Sunday after a bomb threat was made at a ticket counter in Ohio where the flight originated, authorities said.

The person suspected of making the threat at the Dayton, Ohio airport was in custody and being investigated, FBI spokeswoman Lindsay Godwin said in a statement.

The FBI found no sign of a bomb on board the plane, which landed at 1 p.m., Godwin said.

When the threat was made, Flight 2596 with 44 passengers and three crew members was already in the air, the FBI said.

"The plane was closer to Reagan National at the time the threat was received, prompting officials to let the plane proceed," the FBI statement said.

There were no injuries, according to Courtney Mickalonis, a Reagan Airport spokeswoman.

Flights were operating normally as of late Sunday afternoon, the FBI said.
