If JESSELIVES is any indication of what's to come, there’s a great chance that music will finally see an artist with the confidence to be what many of rappers are afraid of: “himself”. JESSELIVES personifies the true meaning of inspired music, with an electric stage presence to match. It's rare that an artist can take you on an emotional journey with such insight. JESSELIVES believes that the message in music is what inspires true fans.
This is evident in his confident, yet intuitive talent for writing, which captivates his fans whether he's on the stage or infiltrating an iPod. He has been hailed as one of the most underrated artists in his region, with a witty yet well timed sense of word play. Like most inner city kids, JESSELIVES has a story to tell; one of tragedy and triumph. Born and raised in San Jose California, JESSELIVES embodies the rare combination of college educated business strategy with a respected street savvy earned during his teenage years as a stick up kid on the South and East side streets of the Silicon Valley.
A football scholarship may have saved his life, immediately pulling him out of his volatile environment and exposing him to a bigger world then the trappings of the South Bay area. The contrasting experiences of school and the streets resulted in a Masters Degree in Business and a thorough understanding of how business is done from Wall Street to Jump Street. After police murdered his brother in 2006, music took on an entirely new focus for JESSELIVES. Based on the strength of a promise made to his late brother, the supportive back-up man immediately stepped to the forefront and began hitting the streets with mixtapes and classic tracks such as “Mr. Invisible”, “What I’m Gone Do”, and the classic mixtape series “Footprints On The Moon”, which are still in rotation on East and West coast radio stations.
