Apple also announced the availability of its advanced operating system OS X Mountain Lion next month, which comes with an array of innovative features and has iCloud built into it.
At its annual developers conference, Apple announced its all new 15-inch MacBook Pro notebook featuring impressive retina display, all flash storage, quad-core processors, and weighing just 4.46 pounds.
"The MacBook Pro with Retina display pushes the limits of performance and portability like no other notebook," said Apple CEO Tim Cook.
"With a gorgeous Retina display, all flash architecture and a radically thin and light design, the new MacBook Pro is the most advanced Mac we have ever built," Cook said.
Its 15-inch MacBook Pro is available with a 2.3 GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor with Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.3 GHz, 8GB of memory and 256GB of flash storage starting at $2,199, and upwards. A 13-inch version comes with a 2.5 GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor, 4GB of memory and 500GB hard drive starting at $1,199, and upwards.
Apple also updated its MacBook Air. The 11-inch MacBook Air comes with a 1.7 GHz processor, 4GB of memory and is available with 64GB of flash storage starting at $999, and upwards. The 13-inch version comes with a 1.8 GHz processor, 4GB of memory and is available with 128GB of flash storage starting at $1199, and upwards.
Apple further said its OS X Mountain Lion advanced desktop operating system will be available in July as a download from the Mac App Store for $19.99. Mountain Lion introduces more than 200 innovative features including the all new Messages app, Notification Center, system-wide Sharing, Facebook integration, among others.
The company also previewed iOS 6, which will be available to iPhone, iPad and iPod touch users this fall as a free software update. New features include an all new Maps app with Apple-designed cartography, turn-by-turn navigation; new Siri features, including support for more languages, easy access to sports scores, among others.
AAPL is trading at $581.54, up $1.22 or 0.21%, on a volume of 12 million shares.
