The signs started going up last week, but all the McDonald's restaurants across the country should have them on display today.

So you'll know that the sausage biscuit with egg is 510 calories, or a Quarter Pounder with cheese is 520 calories.

The fast-food giant announced last week it would post the calorie information now, instead of waiting for next year when a regulation could require major chains to post the information.

So now customers can't plead ignorance about the number of calories they may be getting when they place that order.

I've seen the calorie counts at St. Louis Bread Co. for quite some time, and it had made me change my mind about what I might order a few times. Who needs the cinnamon crunch bagel (420 calories) when the asiago cheese (330 calories) is available?

Sometimes only one item will satisfy your craving. But most of the time, a plain hamburger would satisfy hunger as easily as chicken nuggets.

So will the signs at McDonald's have an impact on your choices? Or the choices you make for your children?

And yes, I know a good many people will weigh in and tell me they NEVER eat at McDonald's. We know, it's not you buying any of the 6.5 million hamburgers the chain sells every day.
