Just in time for all that holiday baking and cooking you may have planned, 8 million food processors from Cuisinart haven been recalled, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission. So far Conair, the producer of the Cuinisart food processors, has received 69 reports of consumers finding broken bits of the processors' blade in their food. According to USA Today, half of these people are reporting mouth and dental injuries.
The report from the Consumer Product Safety Commission report further explains the reasoning behind the recall: "The food processor's riveted blade can crack over time and small, metal pieces of the blade can break off into the processed food. This poses a laceration hazard to consumers."
The models in question date back all the way to July 1996 until December 2015. That's over a decade worth of food processors. All of them are made in China and cost between $100 and $350. Twenty-two different models are being recalled, and consumers are urged to check the bottom of their food processor to see if their model is included. Model numbers included start with the following: CFP-9, CFP-11, DFP-7, DFP-11, DFP-14, DLC-5, DLC-7, DLC-8, DLC-10, DLC-XP, DLC-2007, DLC-2009, DLC-2011, DLC-2014, DLC-3011, DLC-3014, EV-7, EV-10, EV-11, EV-14, KFP-7, and MP-14.
If your food processor is included in the recall, throw the blade away and contact Cuisinart for your replacement.
