The rap-related street violence in Chicago continues to make headlines as up-and-coming 17-year-old rapper RondoNumbaNine was charged with murder on Sunday in connection with the fatal shooting of a cab driver in February.
Rondo, who was born Clint Massey, is being held on $2 million bail now that he is being fingered as one of the two gunman who shot and killed Javan Boyd on February 22, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Witnesses place Massey and an unnamed gunman at the scene and claim to have seen the two fire shots into Boyd's car. The victim was shot seven times, taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.
RondoNumbaNine hasn't broken through as a rapper on a national scale, but his "Hang Wit Me" remix video has amassed more than 1.3 million views on YouTube. The clip, which was shot in an alleyway, finds Rondo and members of his crew smoking marijuana and flashing guns for the camera. The rapper's "Life of a Savage" video features a small cameo from Katie Got Bandz and tells a slightly different story as Rondo raps about trying to trade his street life for a legitimate hip-hop existence.
