Facebook Inc. (NASDAQ:FB) owned Instagram, has now announced the launch of its collage app "Layout" for Android devices, enabli...
The Layout app mimics the same user-friendly navigational tools and format interface, as released earlier in March for Instagram users on iOS devices. The app allows users to choose upto nine pictures of their choice from existing libraries, or take new ones from the Photo Booth feature. Chosen photos can then be edited and stylized by cropping, reshaping, resizing, mirroring or flipping images, depending on user preferences.
A variety of layouts have also been made available to choose from, allowing users to experiment with the collage app and arrange photographs according to the offered grids. Other features include the “Face” option, which groups pictures together and their editing filters.
The latest collage update has been introduced to Android devices solely because the social networking platform has been expanding drastically with 'one in five’ Instagram uploads in the form of photo collages.
The photo-grid tool differs from other software because it initially requires users to choose their photos, and then offers them a layout, as opposed to other collage apps, which fit photos according to the grid chosen. Users can upload their photo-collages in the square form aspect ratio, usually seen on Instagram newsfeed templates.
Instagram is also introducing its editing tool known as the “Structure”feature, which allows users to ‘enhance’ photo texture and visual details. Through its decision to diversify and introduce new photo-merging and editing tools, the social networking site has further improved upon an on-going trend for perfect photo-sharing on Social Media.
